How To: The Best Morning Ever + Smoothie Recipe

A good morning is essential. A morning sets the tone for the rest of the day. For me a bad morning means a cranky day. I am still working on my morning, finding out what I like and what works for me. These are some of the tips I have found along the way that definitely better my morning which also better the rest of my day and made me so much more productive. I have already made a post about how to get shit done and how to stop procrastinating.

Have a routine
Having a routine is probably the best advice I can give. The days I wake up without doing a routine are chaotic and confusing. And I find myself not doing the things I prepared for that day. Having a routine helps you focus yet calms you mind. Humans are very routine based. But the key is to find the routine that works for you. 

Stop scrolling
A clear what not to do is reaching for your phone when you wake up. Leave your phone at your desk or on your dresser, just away from your bed. That way you won't lie in bed scrolling and scrolling when you go to bed and you won't end up reaching for it when you wake up. Instead you should: 

Do something you like
Mornings are for you. They are for waking up your inner sun and what better way to do that than doing something you love? I like something so simple as drinking a nice hot cup of tea or going for a walk in the early light. Find something that makes you happy. Something that makes you heart dance. 

A good breakfast
Food is fuel. Simple as that. Therefore a good breakfast is essential in a good morning. I will forever recommend a smoothie. With fruits and veggies and amazing seeds. Fruit is easy carbohydrates for your brain and that means easy energy. And what's not good about veggies?? And no, it does not have to taste bad. The key is dates. Dates make everything taste sweet and don't be afraid to use a lot of them. They are the balm for your body.

Recipe on the smoothie above: 
1 banana
250g thawed strawberries
1-2 handfuls of fresh spinach
A couple of slices of cucumber
7-10 dates
A handful of hemp seeds
Optional: the juice of 1 orange
Water to desired thickness

To do list
The best way to kick off your day is to have a to do list. You can choose to do this the night before or you can do it in the morning, that's really up to you and what fits your routine. A to do list is just great to get you ready for the day and you have a clear plan of what the day is going to bring. 

Off with the PJs
Now, when you are ready to get to work make sure you change out of your PJ's. I used to just keep on my PJ's and then I don't really get out of bed and I don't get anything done. But by switching out of the clothes you sleep in you let your mind and body know that it's time to get to work.
