Would You Replace It? // Declutter Tip

Having a hard time decluttering because what if you'll need it later?
Minimizing your items. To keep it or to throw it out. That should be easy enough. But what do you do with items you aren't sure to keep or throw out? And how are you going to figure out what to do? Well, there are a few methods. But first:
Start by making 3 piles; a yes pile, a no pile and a maybe pile. The yes pile goes back and the no pile goes out. That is easy enough. But what about the maybe pile?
There are a few techniques as to how to go about it. You can put it in a box and chuck it away, set a time frame, for example a month and if you haven't thought about or needed the items in the box then they are out.
But if you, like me, like to just get it out of the way immediately, then ask yourself some questions:
- Does it bring joy?
- When is the last time I used it?
If the answer is no and you can't even remember the last time you used it then out it goes. And if these questions doesn't make it clear enough then here is another one:

I recently came across another question that has helped me with the decluttering even more:

If you lost it or it was ruined would you replace it (with the exact same product/item)?

To me this makes the yes or no to keeping it really clear. If you wouldn't replace it then out it goes.
And maybe you should go through your yes pile with that question to see if there are any you wouldn't want to replace.
