Vegan Savory Apple Chips

Hello and welcome to one of the lasts posts of 2019 - and this decade, wow. That's crazy to think about. Thank you to everyone who follows along and thank you to everyone who has messaged me about how you like my recipes and what I share - it means a lot to me! We are finishing off the year with one of my favorites; these savory apple chips. They do take a bit of effort to make but to me it is all worth it! Let's get started:

2 - 3 people // total time: 1 ½ hours

2 large red apples

4 tbsp. maple syrup
4 tbsp. lemon juice
4 tsp. paprika powder
2 tsp. onion powder

Preheat the oven to 250 degrees Fahrenheit, hot air // 120 degrees Celsius, hot air.

Whisk the ingredients for the marinade together in a bowl and set aside.

Remove the stem, the flower and the core from the apples with an apple corer. Afterwards cut the apples into 1/8 inch // 2 mm slices on a mandolin slicer.

Brush the apples with a thin layer of the marinade on both sides, place on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. They must not overlap.

Place in the oven for 40 minutes. Afterwards turn them upside down. Bake for a further 10-20 minutes until golden. Keep an eye on them so they do not burn. The chips will still be soft when you remove them from the oven but will turn crisp once cold. Place the baking sheet with the chips on a grate to allow to cool.

Serve immediately – or they soften. If they soften, you can reheat them in the oven until crisp again.
